PEEQUALITY
June 11, 2016 : Transgender Awareness : Seattle, Wa
All over the United States of America, transgender people are being harassed in many different ways in public restrooms. Why? Because apparently, transgender people are different. And for some reason, people ignore the injustice: “I don't understand it, but it's none of my business” (comment on a website). This is what we want to change. First off, we want people to understand that there is no “normal”, different is normal, gender is a spectrum. By understanding the injustice, maybe then people will want to change their ways. Maybe then, they will realize that all topics of injustice are a part of their business.

OUR CLASS
We are the Class of 2016 at Lake Washington Girls Middle School.
At Lake Washington Girls Middle School, as the class of 2016, we are a part of social justice program called Walls to Bridges. In Walls to Bridges, we focus on how to be an ally, activist, leader of social and political change. We discuss current injustices such as LGBTQ+ rights, black lives matter, abortion laws, and much more. We decided to create our own direct action campaign speaking out about transgender bathroom rights. We agreed that this was a subject we were passionate about and wanted to raise awareness about. We hope to make the bathrooms in Seattle as safe as possible for any and all genders. We strive be to be agents of change in our communities.
